About Marie

Why do you think integrative therapy is the most effective form of therapy?

I believe that everyone is different and that each individual will not have the same needs so integrative therapy allow me to adapt my way of working with each client. Working in this way also means that while working together, we can find together what work better for them and what they find most helpful.

If you could best describe yourself in 5 hashtags, what would they be?

  • #compassionate
  • #non-judgemental
  • #creative
  • #safespace
  • #thereforyou

Why did you choose to become a therapist?

Before becoming a therapist, I worked for a number of years in the charity sector, supporting individuals in different challenging situations; first as a Family Support Worker, then as an Anti-Trafficking Advocate, specialising in supporting mothers to reunite or keep their children. Through those jobs, I gained experience in advocating for others and supporting them in making positive changes in their life.

Following on from those, I also worked as a Domestic Violence Prevention Worker and Keyworker for women in prisons and/or involved in the criminal justice system. I gained good knowledge on supporting individuals with addiction.

Those experiences have given me a passion to support individuals facing difficulties, especially women who have endured hardship and traumatic events and I decided to retrained so that I could support people on a more emotional level and focus on healing.

What is your favourite place to visit and why?

I love to go to the seaside. I find looking out to sea relaxing and I enjoyed feeling the wind and listening to the waves crashing on the beach.

  • Clients stopping working with me because they are feeling better and stronger.

How would you describe your therapy session & approach?

My therapy session are lead by the client. I might have some things ready to use if we had discuss it the previous session. We would useally start with checking in how you are doing, if there is anything in particular you would like to explore and if anything came up following the last session.

I like to end a session with asking you how you are feeling, how the session felt for you and I would also ask you what you have planned for after the session, encouraging you to take some time for yourself. I have adapted my way of working to working online, and use similar tools than face to face such as nesting dolls, drawing, emotion cards or genogram.

I will sometimes join the session with 2 screens so that you can see me and see the creative tools used in the session.
