Integrative therapy is tailored to each individual and therefore every client is treated as the unique human being they are in a holistic way, making treatment specialised in a way that a one size fits all approach is not. Clients get the best therapy as it is what they need at that time, and it can change and develop with them as their needs also change and develop.
I struggled with my own mental health and intense emotions for many years, and I never really understood what was wrong or why I felt the way I did. After having therapy myself and learning to understand my emotions better I realised that if everybody had this info then so many people would be feeling much better than they did. I was surrounded by my friends & loved ones that were all suffering, all trying to cope in their own ways and I thought if I could use this knowledge to help others then I should. Now I am passionate about helping people to understand why they feel the way they do and how they can help themselves to feel better. I think we should be focusing on psychoeducation & emotional wellbeing in schools and teaching the tools to look after one's own mental health to children, and I hope to one day be able to do something to help this to change.
I love going on walking holidays in Yorkshire as I love the views, the breeze and it feels so amazing to be outside walking in the stunning countryside.
I work collaboratively with you to support your emotional wellbeing, to help you develop skills in self-care & to foster a deeper understanding of yourself. I listen to your story, then I help you to understand it & together we find ways of retelling your story that give different insights and perspectives, and this helps you to feel calmer & happier. The way I work is integrative, which means I blend many psychological theories together in a unique way for each client. We won't solely focus on the difficult experiences you've been through, it is important that we process these and then find hope and a way to move forwards. My core approach is the person centred model, but I integrate aspects of humanistic, existential, psychodynamic and narrative therapy as and when they are needed in the process.
